The STEADY™ Program

Safe · Trusted · Empowering · Active · inDependent · You — the program built for your loved one.

STEADY™ is our flagship program — an evidence-based, progressive, one-on-one training program built specifically for older adults. It combines physical training, cognitive dual-task work, home-environment safety, and lifestyle coaching into a single 8-week arc that builds real-world balance skills for your loved one.

During the 8-week program, the coach will also review other factors that may contribute to fall risk, including home modifications, medications, footwear, and other relevant lifestyle or environmental factors.

Session length: Sessions are 45 minutes long — enough time to do the focused work without fatiguing an older adult, and short enough to fit comfortably into the week.

How it works

Comprehensive Assessment

Medical history, medications, gait and balance testing, and fall-risk factor review.

Personalized Plan

A plan tailored to your risks, your goals, and the activities you want to return to.

Progressive Training

Twice-weekly one-on-one sessions over 8 weeks. Exercises evolve as you do.

Home Safety Inspection (optional)

ECHM (Executive Certification in Home Modification)-certified occupational therapists can perform a home inspection. This is optional and is not automatically included in the program. When requested, they inspect the home — where greater than 50% of falls happen — and recommend independent contractors to carry out the modifications they identify.

Homework & Habits

Homework is assigned after every session to improve awareness of fall risks and reinforce balance skills — small daily habits that carry the studio work into everyday life.

Progress Tracking

Measurable gains in strength, gait, and confidence — shared with your physician on request.

Why it works

The evidence is clear. Dual-task training, single-leg work, and functional strength — done consistently and progressively — dramatically reduce fall risk in older adults. Research has shown 43% reductions in fall risk from single-leg training alone, and even larger effects when balance is combined with cognitive challenge.

What makes STEADY™ different is that it's yours. One coach, one plan, one focus: you.

Transition to Ongoing Skill Training — after STEADY™

Balance naturally declines with aging. Muscle mass, reaction time, proprioception, and vision all change year over year — and the gains your loved one makes in STEADY™ need reinforcement to last. That's why STEADY™ doesn't end — your loved one transitions into Ongoing Skill Training. Balance skills degrade without continued practice, and the aging process does not stop, so balance-focused training should continue rather than end.

Ongoing Skill Training sessions keep balance skills sharp, progressively challenge your loved one as their body changes, and catch new risk factors early — before they lead to a fall. Most clients continue with one session per week, tailored to their goals and season of life. It is an evidence-based way to preserve and build on the gains STEADY™ creates.

Think of STEADY™ as the training arc, and Ongoing Skill Training as the practice that keeps it. Confidence doesn't stay by accident.
