Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions families ask most about care for a loved one.
Who is a good candidate for the program?
Any adult — typically 60 or older — who has noticed changes in balance, gait, or confidence, or who has a history of falls or near-falls. You do not need a physician's referral to begin.
Are there conditions you don't work with?
Yes. We are a preventive balance-training program, not a medical clinic. We do not accept clients whose primary issue is vestibular disease, Parkinson's disease, or other neurological disorders. Those conditions should be managed by the appropriate specialist.
How is this different from physical therapy?
Physical therapy typically treats a specific injury or condition and is time-limited. Our program is proactive, preventive, and comprehensive — addressing physical, environmental, cognitive, and lifestyle risk factors together, and building lasting habits rather than just recovering function.
How long is the program?
The STEADY™ Program is 8 weeks of twice-weekly one-on-one sessions. Balance training should continue rather than end, so clients transition into ongoing skill training — typically one session per week — after the initial 8 weeks.
Do you offer group classes and sessions?
No. Every session is one-on-one in a quiet, private setting. This is intentional — it allows the training to be truly personalized.
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance. We are a private-pay program — this gives us the freedom to spend a full 45-minute session focused on you and address every risk factor, not just what a code covers.
Can you communicate with my doctor?
Yes — with your permission, we share assessment findings and progress notes with your primary care physician or specialist.
What does the home safety inspection look like?
A home safety inspection is optional and is not automatically included in the program. When requested, it is performed by ECHM (Executive Certification in Home Modification)-certified occupational therapists. They identify risks in your home and recommend trusted independent contractors who can implement the modifications.
